Don’t you have enough fox photos by now?
It’s a question I often get, especially after my ten-thousandth fox-watching mission.
And maybe they’re right.
But honestly, it’s not about the photos. Although I certainly enjoy those. It’s about what happens beyond the frame. The stories that unfold when I follow foxes.

No matter how many encounters I’ve had, no matter how many hours, days, weeks or years I’ve spent observing them… they never cease to surprise me. And that’s the beauty of it.

People sometimes assume that after all this time, I must be able to predict their every move.
But the opposite is true.

The More You Know

With foxes – as with most of nature – the more you know, the more you realize how much you don’t. These intelligent animals make their own unique choices, every single moment.
Go for a stroll? Take a nap? Hunt? Climb a tree, maybe?
Or how about a swim, a cuddle, a playful sparring match? Teaching the kits, grooming a mate, sharing a meal, or just soaking up the sun in pure fox bliss.

Foxes live rich, layered lives. Just when I think I understand them… they take a completely different path.
And that’s what keeps me coming back.
Foxes intrigue. They fascinate. They reflect something deep back at me. And perhaps, at us all.
