Imagine this: you design the most brilliant little creature ever – sleek, agile, strong – and wrap it in shimmering metallic feathers, like a real-life forest fairy.

Then you think: Hey, let’s recycle this winning design in insect form!
That way, even the less exotic parts of the world get to enjoy their very own version of a hummingbird… sort of.
Enter the hummingbird hawk-moth.
A bit smaller than its birdy cousin. A tad chunkier. Slightly clumsier. And maybe not quite as fast.
But still, we absolutely love it. Because let’s face it: this is as close as we get to the real thing!
And credit where it’s due: This moth plays its hummingbird role with gusto:
It hovers above flowers, sips nectar like a pro, and just when you’re about to take that perfect photo… it’s already long gone.
I call that a brilliant concept.
