Bitterns and herons

I’ve always had a soft spot for all things heron-like. Their slightly awkward, almost Ministry of Silly Walks-worthy strides. The clumsy wing flaps that somehow get them airborne. Yet, in the very next moment, they can strike the most elegant poses. Some species are true masters of fishing, while the Eurasian Bittern, in particular, excels at blending perfectly into its surroundings. To me, these underrated birds deserve far more appreciation than they often receive.
