1. The Small White & the Big Blue: Sanderlings in the Storm 2

Weather Forecast: Wind force 9 and strong gusts of wind.
A good reason to go to the beach.

On arrival it turned out that it was ‘just’ a modest wind force 8, but I got sandblasted nevertheless.

I love the sea, the dunes and the beach and when I smell the sea I’m like home.
A jellyfish shored ashore, some screaming gulls….everything just asks just for a photograph.
But today some funny little white birds* ask most attention.
I can’t remember having seen them before and it is highly fascinating to see how the manage to run against the wind.
One would expect that these few grams of bird would be blown in the air with the slightest breeze…? (which would made some nice photographs by the way)

While they are sprinting seemingly effortless along the shoreline, I’m the one having trouble to keep standing in the wild see.
And the blasts of sand blowing in my face don’t make it any easier. Not to mention how this would affect my gear….

But…the birds are so witty that I’m gladly prepared to chew some sand.
And my Canon….just mustn’t nag…..

* The appeared to be sanderlings (Calidris alba).
